"spanish course"

general

One of the things you can do in Esteli is to do a Spanish course. The town is big enough for different food and beverage outlets (without being called a "party place") and the temperature is fantastic. During the day it can get hot (in the sun) but in the evening it cools down and at night you need at least a blanket. The surrounding mountains can provide some relaxation and inspiration. For me, the two weeks of lessons were more instructive than two full Spanish courses in the Netherlands and much cheaper.

I doubted for a long time whether I should take a Spanish course. I had already completed two courses in the Netherlands and felt that I had learned something but not enough. Would such a week be enough? And why in Nicaragua? And why in Esteli and in this school?

  • In Nicaragua they do not speak as fast as in Spain so you can pick it up quickly;
  • Prices are not high here (for a course and for overnight stays);
  • People are also much more patient than in Spain so that you can practice with locals;
  • There are opportunities to stay in a house so that you can practice directly with your family;
  • Here you can practice directly with people in shops, restaurants and other students;
  • You get one-on-one lessons here so everything is cut to size;
  • A test indicates what level you are in and the teacher or teacher responds to that;
  • You can first go for a week and then decide whether you want another week - the people here are super flexible and happy with every day that you want to take extra lessons. Starting a weekend or in a weekend does not have to be a problem at all.

  • The temperature here is outstanding for a course; during the day it is sometimes hot but more often warm - in the evening it is warm (or pleasant) and at night you need at least a sheet (or blanket). In Leon, for example, it is too hot and sticky;
  • You can easily stop here for a few days (eg on weekends) and go for a walk in the mountains (Miraflor NP) to empty your head;
  • The city is not super big but big enough to have enough supermarkets, restaurants and other (Western) products and services. WIFI can be found in various places and there are plenty of internet cafes. On the other hand, it is not a party city where you have the temptations that you will probably have elsewhere (eg in Leon). Studying will come first without being drowsy.

The owner speaks fluent English and Spanish and can help during the day (and in the evening) with some extra explanation. He is also very accommodating, understanding but also professional and businesslike (he has lived in the United States, among other things). Finally, you can also contact him in German. The man has years of experience with Spanish schools and will also take you (if you want) to a cafe, restaurant or place of interest in the city. There is no fixed time that you have to be at home o.i.d. - you are free to go and stand where you want. Perhaps the most important thing is that the teachers (and teachers) are professional and can really help you on your way. You get a test to see what level you are on and you do not have to indicate what you think is best for you. They know exactly what they have to do and offer customization. My teacher was a woman named "Berta Rosa" a woman at age with a lot of experience and patience.

I slept in a room offered in the not yet finished school in a very central location in the city. A stone's throw from the center (Parque Central) with supermarkets, shops, restaurants, cafes etc. around the corner. On the other hand, it is super quiet and you can sleep so that you can appear fresh at the start in the morning. The building is a dream (although it was not finished when I was there) - you first have to pass two fences for your own safety (you get keys) and then a still empty water party, a palm garden and a waterfall. There will be a swimming pool, Jacuzzi and a sauna and on the terrace (balcony) you can enjoy a beautiful view of the city and the nearby hills all day long. In the evening you can study or read peacefully here. There are plans for a yoga room, miniature golf course etc. There are possibilities for eating along, etc. Ask about the options. I have only used free coffee, sometimes I ate along and you can use the kitchen, the fridge, laundry room and you have your own toilet and shower even though these are not in your room. The staff (in my time there was only Fabiola, the housekeeper) is super. Besides the fact that after a while she washes your clothes and you occasionally eat some food, it seems like you end up in a hot bath. For me more a second house than a school. She helps you with your pronunciation and vocabulary and makes your stay a unique experience. In addition, there are enough people on the floor to keep you busy but not to keep you from your work.
